CLIPDROP IMAGE UPSCALER
(Not Sponsored)
Clipdrop Image Upscaler is a simple but mighty little app.
It sharpens up images.
More crisp, less pixelated.
It âdenoisesâ images by raising the resolution with minimal loss of sharpness.
The tool is just one of Clipdropâs nifty AI image editing apps.
The beauty of it?
Itâs free if youâre happy with 2x upscaling.
The results you get with the 2x are still great.
For ultra-high resolution (up to 16x upscaling đ¤Ż) youâll need to pay for Clipdropâs Pro plan.
Let me show you how to get started with their free plan.
(Spoiler - itâs mind-numbingly easy)
đ¨ Quickstart Guide
1. Go to https://clipdrop.co/image-upscaler
Youâll be met with their super user-friendly home screen.
2. Upload your image
Choose any image.
But note that the tool does work best with photographs and screenshots.
In other words, it doesnât do quite as well with illustrations.
3. Choose how much you want to upscale
If youâre on the free plan, youâre restricted to 2x upscaling.
If youâre on the Pro plan, choose how much you want to upscale the image (up to 16x).
Remember, upscaling an image too much can cause it to become blurry or pixelated.
In other words, upscaling can sometimes have diminishing returns.
In addition, the processing time and file size can increase with heavily upscaled images.
Frustrating, I know.
Itâs all about finding the right level of upscaling for your specific image.
Once youâve uploaded your image and selected your upscale level (if applicable), click âUpscaleâ.
4. Review your upscaled image
Iâve used a random stock photo as an example.
I do like how it gives you a preview of the upscaled image (before and after).
You can review the work before choosing to download it.
Iâve simply used their free 2x upscaling feature in the example below.
Limitations
If your image is extremely low resolution or just has a high level of noise, the tool wonât usually make a meaningful difference. At the end of the day, itâs AI - not magic đ.
Itâs always worth considering how comfortable you are with privacy and security when uploading images to third-party tools like Clipdrop. Always read the Terms Of Use.
If youâre a pro designer or anyone else that may require more advanced editing features, this probably wonât be enough. The tool is a better option for content creators who just need to boost their images a notch.
Pricing đ°ď¸
Free - Up to 2x upscaling
Pro ($9/month, $7/month if paid annually) - Up to 16x upscaling.
Note - when you purchase a Clipdrop Pro plan you also get access to the premium features of their other apps (check them out here).
