ChatGPT Prompt: PAS Framework

The PAS (Problem, Agitate, Solution) framework is a versatile copywriting technique that can be used in a variety of different types of writing.

Its strength lies in its ability to:

  • Connect with the reader's pain points

  • Intensify the urgency of the problem

  • Present your product or service as the solution

It can be used in ad copy, sales copy, blog post introductions, social media posts, email marketing campaigns, video scripts, and more.

Ultimately, if you have a call-to-action of some sort, you should be able to apply a PAS framework to encourage users to take that action.

With the right prompt, ChatGPT can be used to apply a PAS structure to anything.

Here’s the prompt template to use. You don’t need to fill in all of the blanks.

But the more information you’re able to provide, the more effective the responses will generally be.

The Prompt Template 🤖:

"You are an experienced copywriter. Please craft a compelling PAS (Problem, Agitate, Solution) piece for my [insert product/service]. The aim of this piece is to [insert desired effect on the reader, e.g., convince them of the product's value, spur them to action].

Please use the following information to guide your creation:

Type of writing: [insert, e.g., sales copy, blog post, social media post, email marketing campaign, video script, press release, case study, ad copy]

Approximate word count: [insert]
Target audience: [insert]
Tone/style: [eg. conversational, professional, persuasive]
Problem the product/service solves: [insert]
Potential pain points of target audience: [insert]
Unique selling proposition of product/service: [insert]
Desired call-to-action: [insert]

Example 💻️ :

Here’s an example of this prompt template filled out for an email newsletter in the music production niche.

I asked ChatGPT to generate some Facebook ad copy to generate subscribers for this newsletter.

Zoom in if you have to.

Here’s the response it generated.
