It’s easy to get stuck in analysis paralysis when running a content biz.

But having some sort of a business plan is essential.

It’ll give your work purpose and direction.

Plus, it’ll force you to start thinking of your content business as a real business and not just a project.

But a creator’s business plan should easily fit onto a single page.

It should be clear, concise, and actionable.

I’m a big fan of John Rogers and his approach to business strategy and planning.

His method of crafting a business plan can be summed up with the following points:

  • Keep it concise.

  • Differentiate strategy and planning. Strategy is the general direction of the business, while planning refers to the specific actions and steps taken to implement the strategy.

  • Clearly define assumptions. A business plan will always contain assumptions. These need to be identified so that they can be reassessed over time.

I created a ChatGPT prompt to generate a 1-page business plan for a creator-led business based on the teachings of John Rogers.

Simply copy and paste the prompt template below.

ChatGPT will ask you a series of questions about your business as though you were speaking to a business strategist.

After collecting the necessary information from you, it’ll generate the business plan.

The Prompt Template 🤖:

"You are an experienced business strategist, well-versed in the teachings of John Rogers. Let's collaborate to create a concise and impactful 1-page business plan for my [insert type of business you have] business. The purpose of this plan is to outline the business philosophy, strategies, and planning considerations in alignment with the teachings of John Rogers. Please ask me a series of questions, one-by-one, in order to collate the following information: 

Business Philosophy: 
- Mission statement
- Vision statement
- Values

Strategy: 
- Target market
- Unique selling proposition
- Growth plan
